The Lost finale was last night. I have two unanswered questions that I hope they resolve by the end of the series:

1. Why isn't Richard Alpert (aka Bat Manuel from The Tick) aging?

2. Did he find a giant stash of Dharma Initiative eyeliner? Is that his secret?

I spent most of the episode trying to keep track of where Desmond was. Jin was a foregone conclusion--we'd seen his grave, so it was all a matter of whether he'd really died or had stayed behind for some reason--and I don't care that much about Michael, but I didn't want Desmond to die before he got to see Penny again. So that made me very happy. Scott and I were discussing how you can make a big old coincidence work: build up of the world, and build up to the coincidence. Everything in Lost is destiny, so of course Penny's boat was right there. But we also knew she'd been looking for Desmond a long time, and he gave her a lead with his phone call.

Oh, and there's no guarantee that Michael and Jin are dead. It's all comic book and soap opera rules. I saw no bodies.

Boy, did they ever have to get Walt off the island--there is no way they'd have been able to fudge that growth spurt and the voice change.

And it was Locke in the coffin! That was the possibility I didn't think they'd do. It was a little anticlimactic. But now I want to see all the visits he made to everyone.

So, yeah, looking forward to next season. This one was good, I hope the next one is, too.
