There's a 2000+ acre brush fire burning kinda close to us ... the stupid local news, which is so great during the hurricanes, is not giving me nearly enough info on the fire (look, I don't *know* all the street names in the area, give me a map graphic!), so I MapQuested the general locale, and it's to the west and north of us, mostly being pushed further west by the wind.

No evacuations ordered for us, and so long as the one open shelter is close to our house, I figure we're okay. Still, I pulled out our important papers and my handy-dandy updated hurricane evacuation packing list, just in case.

Really, the only thing that would slow me down during an evacuation would be breaking down the playpen, which I have never done myself. But I think I could have the boyo and me out of the house within an hour, if only because a brush fire evacuation doesn't require the same sort of supplies that a hurricane evacuation would.

But we're okay and not looking at being in the line of ... er, the fire. More updates as they happen.
