Apr. 28th, 2008 02:45 pmOkay, so Lost. I liked it. I especially liked the lack of a big "gotcha" moment, because if there are too many of those, they lose their power. Instead, there were all these neat, twining, intriguing things that make me want to see where they go (much like the first season), with some backstory filled in and fleshed out.
I *like* Ben. I mean, he's a twitchy little know-it-all freakfest, but I enjoy his character a lot. Especially after my epiphany from the most recent Juliet-centric episode ... ( slight spoiler ) He's just the weirdest, best villain ever.
Crazy crossover cage-match: the Master from last season's Doctor Who vs. Ben Linus. I *think* my money's on Ben. Quiet creepy is worse than bombastic creepy.
Doctor Who ... well, hm. I kinda like Donna. She's abrasive and annoying, yes. But she grew on me the first time they had her on, and I like that she's not some hot young thing. And I *love* that she's not all gooey over the Doctor. That drove me nuts about Martha--it seemed, to me, to happen way too fast and I didn't buy it. Which is funny, since I totally bought that Rose and both Doctors had ... something ... going on.
And hey, I found Rose annoying on more than one occasion. The companion is not my main reason for watching the show, anyway. If I hated David Tennant, well, that could be a problem.
As far as the episode ... it was fine. I'm usually not excited about the first episode of the season. The ending, with the bin? Ooooh, interesting. And some very fun moments. Which is all I ask.
