So when I was pregnant, I really didn't have the whole run-to-the-bathroom-and-throw-up morning sickness. No, I had the severe feeling of detachment/exhaustion/feeling just plain icky all the time morning sickness. I think the throwing up might have been better.

What really got to me were smells. I have a really good sense of smell, anyway, and pregnancy made it even more so. The air conditioner coming on with that initial blast of hot, stale air would make me want to die, for example. We invested heavily in air fresheners, which helped a lot, as did getting into the second trimester. Most of it was gone by week 12/13.

My point? Well, you know how when you smell something and you immediately have a strong memory? (Or hear a song on the radio, maybe?) I get that, except it's like my body remembering being morning-sick. I'm not actually ill, it's just ... ew. And today it's the way my office smells that's doing it. There's barely a scent here! I can actually track back in my memories to putting the desk together, which is a nice memory associated with this smell, but it's not really making things better.

Thus, I need an air freshener. Or a really stinky candle.
