I actually wound up watching the rest of that "Celebrity Rehab" and the one after it, so I know that Jeff Conaway was in the wheelchair because of serious chronic back pain, which probably helped lead to the rehab.

I will likely never watch this show again--not because it's horrible, exactly. This is not the same thing as, say, "Scott Baio is 49 and Single/Pregnant" or even "The Real World." This show, like the two episodes of "Breaking Bonaduce" I saw, is about people I kind of recognize dealing with their serious issues (or not dealing with them, but the audience can still see them), and ... I don't think I should be watching that. I know they agreed to have the cameras there, but I felt like I was invading their privacy.

It was really nice to see Kenicke doing some yoga stretches and being able to walk down the hall--he seemed so pleased that he got to sleep in his bed.

I totally get sucked in. Also Intervention. I actually try not to watch it because it hits kind of close to home and gets me all emotional, but it's also really interesting and I can't help but get sucked in.

This is how I feel with most reality TV, and I'm never able to properly describe why I never feel right about it. There's a certain anonymity through obscurity that's completely broken with reality TV. Even if the people agree to allowing themselves to be filmed (like Cops, or whatever), I still feel like a voyeur, rubbernecking at an accident scene 1500 miles away. I don't know... I can't describe it well. The Celebrity Rehab and Intervention shows are the worst for me in that vein since rehab is so personal and so painful... why do I need to be part of that?
