What's even more ridiculous, frankly, is that it's *already* illegal for same-sex couples to marry in Florida. But since the fundies are apparently fearful that some "activist judge" will overturn that law, now they want super-double protection enshrined in the constitution.

On the upside, we successfully passed the amendment four years ago that requires 60% to pass new amendments as opposed to the previous simple majority, so maybe it'll be harder to get this thing through.
