Harry Potter predictions! and one spoiler for Book 6. oh, and a Buffy finale spoiler.

Okay, really, if you haven't read Book 6 of Harry Potter, and you haven't seen the series finale of Buffy, you need to get to it!

Okay, book 7 predictions:

Ginny Weasley is going to die. Possibly one of the twins. I think Percy Weasley is also a distinct possibility for a death.

I think there's a good chance Hermione or Ron might die, but I won't lay odds on which one, and it might be neither. I'm kind of thinking she may go the Xander route, and seriously maim one of them. I think better odds are that Neville will die, considering the prophecy. [livejournal.com profile] jkason has a big old theory on Neville and Harry and Voldemort, but you'd have to ask him about it.

I don't think Harry will die. I think Harry will become the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts. And if that's true, then I really hope she doesn't kill Snape, and I hope he's a good guy (I think he is--it seemed obvious to me that he and Dumbledore were using telepathy or whatever they called it in Book 6), because I like the idea that Harry has the job Snape wanted, and that they'll never be friendly. Grudging repect I can buy, though.

Now we shall see if I'm right.

I'm most worried about Hagrid, since she's killing off all of Harry's parent type figures. Hagrid's been there since the beginning. I'm not sure WHAT will happen with Ginny or Nevil except that I think that one or both of them will be important, what with the prophecy and Ginny being the first girl in a bunch of generations of Weasleys and all. Plus Harry loves her. :)

I think Snape is good, but I think he'll probably have to die. He killed Dumbledore, and I don't think that people will be able to forgive him even if he had good reason.

I actually love reading the Harry Potter community, because people spend a ton of time discussing and debating what will happen in the last book, and I love all the ideas. Maybe Dumbledore's brother will help Harry? Maybe Draco will turn good? Maybe Sirius isn't really dead afterall? Maybe Snape saves the day in the end?

It's too fun to speculate. But I'll have to stop reading soon, because people are already getting their hands on copies, and I don't want to be spoiled.

I tend to see Hagrid as one of the kids, so I don't know if she'll kill him or not. Though he'd be a good candidate for the Xander treatment if she doesn't kill him. He loses an eye or a leg or something, then goes off to France with the giant lady from their school ...

Oh, here we go: Snape lives, Harry still hates him, but out of grudging respect for whatever totally noble thing Snape will probably do in the last book, manages to make sure Snape keeps his job as Potions master and gets him tenure. Which *really* pisses Snape off. :o

I think Sirius is dead, but he can always come back as a ghost. This is the Potter-verse, after all. Sirius Black=Obi Wan Kenobi.

I don't think anyone important is going to come out unscathed. And wait until we all read the last book and then have to go back and re-read the entire series ... !

Yeah, after I read book 7, I'm definitely going to read them from start to finish. Maybe 1 book every couple weeks or something, so I don't go Harry Potter crazy, but I'd love to reread and find all the hidden clues and stuff. :)

BTW, I don't really know who Obi Wan Kenobi is, except that he's a Star Wars guy. I've never seen the movies, except the 2nd (5th) one. Phantom Menace maybe? There was some Jar Jar Binks action, and a lot of people talking about a lot of stuff I didn't understand. I may have napped.

Holy cats! And I thought John was bad for not seeing the first three until, what, 1997? Whenever they were re-released into theaters.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is (for the purposes of this analogy) Luke Skywalker's (read: Harry's) mentor/teacher/father figure. And this is a spoiler, but you can figure it out from me equating him to Sirius: he dies in the first/fourth movie (A New Hope), but then comes back as a ghost in the next two to give out pithy advice. And at one point I always think he's going to burst into song, but he never does. It makes me sad.
