This is how it goes when I put the Zweeble into his crib during the day while I eat: I place him on his back, turn on his Dr. Seuss Exploded mobile, and he turns over on his tummy to get a better view of the thing. Then his neck gets tired, he puts his head down on the mattress and grunts for a while, and then he crows and screeches to let me know it's time to flip him over.
Today we did the first half of that, and as I finished eating I realized it was kinda quiet in the bedroom, so I went in and ... he was on his back! He'd been on his belly when I left the room, but now he was on his back, kicking away.
Thank you, God/Buddha/Allah/Charles Darwin/Dr. Spock!
So just a little bit ago, before I started this, I went in to find him on his stomach again ... but things looked promising for another roll. So I watched ... okay, he pushes with one leg for a while, then shoves himself so his butt is in the air, then topples over to one side and rolls onto his back from there. Not the most graceful way to do it (he is my child, after all), but it gets the job done.
He's also managed to shove himself across the crib.
