For my birthday, I got some money. (and a massage, but that's a whole other thing.)
(The people across the street keep coming home at 10 or 11 at night with their truck radio playing so loud it sounds like the thing is playing in the living room, and I am not exaggerating--and my ire is not lessened by the fact that tonight the featured band is the Red Hot Chili Peppers. TURN IT DOWN!)
So I bought myself season 3 of Doctor Who. "57 academics just punched the air!"
Anyway, I was looking over the next couple of days, and on into the weekend, and I realized that I won't have much chance to watch the DVDs until the weekend, when I am buried in work ... but what a really nice and non-caloric reward for working they will be!
I'm trying to kind of watch what I eat, but with the birthday and my just being sloth-like about it the week before that, I've not been doing so well lately. And I can tell--heartburn, I thought we'd parted ways when the Zweeble was born! Damn!--and it's time to start being strict again.
Exercise is really the thing that's driving me nuts. I like to do it, mostly, but there really has been no chance for about five days. Which makes me feel like a slacker. Sure, I have a two-year-old and last week was full of doctor's appointments and a kitchen that was growing an ecosystem in the sink, plus work and music class ... but if I wasn't such a lame-o I could totally train for a marathon.
Whatever. I lost 5 pounds and am now sitting there. That's okay for a little bit.
Bleah, food and weight and stuff. Last night I re-watched the Shakespeare episode of Doctor Who and the night before it was "Blink," which is still pretty creepy and one of the best time travel stories ever. So, yay. New Lost tomorrow night. Saw the last hour or so of Battlestar Galactica, liked that everything went straight to hell all of a sudden, and then was not entirely sure if the ending worked or not ... I was kind of dubious that the entire fleet agreed to give up their tech and move down to prehistoric Earth-2. But then I remembered how many people moved down to the algae planet, and that place was just godforsaken (pardon the pun) even before the Cylons got there. Earth-2 was at least farmable. So, you know, within the context of the show it works, but I still don't understand why Adama didn't, like, radio back to Lee with his coordinates. Sure the Chief wants to be a hermit in Scotland or what have you, but Adama and Lee weren't that fraught, were they? Ah well, maybe he did it after dark, when we couldn't see.
And what was the "He doesn't like to be called that" thing? Just a throwaway line, or would I get it if I'd watched more of the series?
I did think Gaius's ... cracking? ... when he mentioned he knew about farming was really, really nice.
Okay. Bed.

Date: 2009-03-25 05:53 pm (UTC)Hm. We have not, as yet, received Gus's Xmas present. Somehow this does not surprise me, though ...
We did, however, get a nice thank-you e-mail from the Lorna, so if you want to tease John, you have some good ammunition to use. :)
