Go read this. Sent to me by the husband.
Um. I've read that twice--once in high school and once in grad school. I actually liked it both times, but certainly more the second time when I already knew what was going on.
Perhaps Rat had one of the editions that didn't have the Appendix? :)
(When we read it in high school, my teacher mentioned that Faulkner always referred to Benjy, the mentally disabled narrator of Part 1, as an idiot, and she didn't know why. So I asked if maybe it was because of the Shakespeare quote the title came from: "... a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." And she said she'd never put that together before. I was destined to have an English degree. If I'd tried for any other, God would have laughed.)
